Neighborhood stalwart, 3 for a 16 coffee keeping it cheap for us regular folks who can't stand Grace Coffee. I feel like they use more beans per cup, other coffee tastes watery after you have have EVP. Every single barista is a wonderful human being and the art vibes, music, and friendliness honestly makes Madison a better place.

Hands down best coffee in the city. They roast their own beans and they really know what they're doing. Quality ingredients, and well made drinks. Some of the best espresso I've had outside of Europe, the barristas know what they're doing. Many of them have worked their for years (they keep employees, which says something). The granola is fantastic, and I LOVE the cherry almond scone. Comfy chairs, great ambiance, cool regulars. Its by far my favorite place to get coffee in the city.

Best Americano I’ve had in Madison. It stayed nice and warm for a long time, too. The barista knew what he was doing. EVP’s vibe is laid back and alternative without the pretentiousness you might see in other small cafes.

Cool cafe on the east side of Madison. Has a 90s vibe to it. Super laid back and no frills. Milk and liquid sugar out on the table for self service which I always appreciate. Parking lot is a bit small but pretty easy to park around the block and walk. Guy working there that day was super friendly . Would go back to study or do a work day.

Driven past this coffee shop for years but today I decided to stop in. What an EXPERIENCE! Reminds me of a coffee shop we visited in Zanzibar. Had a cafe au lait with Guatemalan coffee. Wanted something different and it was so good. The barista was amazing. He was more than willing to explain to us the different coffee beans and their unique tastes. He also explained how they roast their beans in-house! Will definitely be back.

Coffee is coffee, , right? Hmmm, maybe not true. I travel regularly between Colorado and WI and have yet to find coffee as expertly and finely 'crafted' as EVP's. It is so remarkable in quality in my opinion, that I have it shipped 1,000 miles rather than settle for the over roasted (burnt flavor), bland and characterless coffees I have thus found during my travels. Bear in mind that flavor is in the taste buds of the beholder, but after over 8 years I have found none better. It is much like comparing beer in some respects, One can drink the grocery store brands or one can go with a micro brewed craft ale and thus it is, in essence, like comparing colored water to a rich and flavor crafted ale. So too the analogy applies to the uniquely flavored EVP coffees. My go-to varieties are the Sumatran, Bali Blue Moon and Expresso Blend, and find blending among varieties yields additional flavor experiences. My advice to EVP's roasting technique is the old saying "it ain't broke, don't fix it". A truly quality standout product.
